Small edible blue purple berry. The leaves are very aromatic and the plant has a number of medicinal uses.
Description: A very small bushy shrub, usually only a few feet tall, but occasionally up to 15ft. Flowers cover the bush in spring and summer, followed by blue-purple fruit.

Hardiness: Hardy to the upper teens, low
20's.
Growing Environment: The myrtle can be grown in part shade as well as full sun.
It needs only little to moderate water. Chlorosis will develop if over watered.
Propagation: By seeds, by cuttings.

Uses: Berries are eaten raw. Leaves are used as a spice, and can be used as a substitute for bay leaves.
Native Range: Native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East.
