The main part used of the plant is its roots which have the characteristic anise-like flavor. This Licorice is native to the Himalayan region and is widely used in Chinese herbal medicine. It is a hardy plant, surviving temperatures into the low teens (F). The plant is also a nitrogen-fixer. #1341
