A pretty, bright orange fruit with large, highly aromatic and somewhat sour pulp---popular as a tasty flavoring for juices.
Description: A small, bushy tree, usually to no more than 10ft. The fruits grow up to 3-4" and ripen to a bright, yellow-orange color. Fruiting can happen in 3 years from seed.
Hardiness: Unknown. Probably not that frost hardy.
Growing Environment: Grow in well-drained, rich, moist soil. Water regularly. Protect from cold temperatures. The plant is fairly compact and should make a nice container specimen. Grow in full sun to part-shade.
Propagation: By seeds, which germinate slowly and should not be dried out. Germination generally takes 1-6 months.
Uses: The tree is fairly rare in cultivation, but the fruits are of nice quality and the tree is occasionally grown for this reason.
Native Range: Native to South America, particularly Brazil. Only occasionally cultivated in this region.
