Fleshy fruit, usually eaten fresh. The tree is most commonly used as a street tree, or is trained into a hedge. Attracts birds. |

Plant Cultivation |

Small or medium sized bush or tree to 15-20ft. Moderately hardy, can
survive short frosts and freezes. Trees are not very particular about
soils. Water fairly regularly. Easily trained into a short hedge or
bush. The Spanish Stopper is also a good candidate for bonsai. Grows
well in shade, part-shade, and is very drought tolerant. |

Native to southern Florida, the Carribean, southern Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. |
