Small, 0.5" berry with dark red to blackish colored flesh.
Description: Small or medium sized bush or tree to 15-20ft. The Spanish Stopper is also a good candidate for bonsai.
Hardiness: Moderately hardy, can survive short frosts and freezes.
Growing Environment: Trees are not very particular about soils. Water fairly regularly. Easily trained into a short hedge or bush. Grows well in shade, part-shade, and is very drought tolerant.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Fleshy fruit, usually eaten fresh. The tree is most commonly used as a street tree, or is trained into a hedge. Attracts birds.
Native Range: Native to southern Florida, the Caribbean, southern Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala.
