Though somewhat common in its native range, the Beach Cherry is little know elsewhere in the world. Bears 1", red, shiny fruits that are occasionally tinged with orange. Fruits have a sweet flavor.
Description: A short, shrubby tree growing to 4-12 feet. Similar to the Surinam Cherry, flowering during warm seasons in profuse. The red fruits are popular with birds and wildlife. The species naturally occurs in a variety of environments and is likely not too picky about soil requirements.
