It has a similar growth habit to the peanut, with flowers developing above ground, which when pollinated, send shoots below the soil to produce the edible seeds. The seeds are rich in protein and have a number of uses when cooked. It is a small legume, with clumping growth to 1+ feet. Naturally grows in a semi-arid climate, with seasonal rainfall.
