8 seeds per pack. Part of the ginger family, this medium sized herb is most often grown for its edible rhizomes. Although similar, it should not be confused with Galanga. The rhizomes are used in seasoning and flavoring a number of southeast Asian prepared dishes. The pith is also cooked as a vegetable and used in curries. Herbaceous growth to 5-10 ft / 3 m. Has large, long, ornamental leaves with the characteristic ginger look. Not frost tolerant, but rhizomes can be saved and regrown in successive years. #4814
