It is naturally a deciduous, rainforest tree, native to the Amazon region. Trunks are tapped for a milky latex, which is processed into industrial rubber. The seeds are poisonous, but have some traditional edible uses when properly processed. Medium to large sized tree is as high as 140 ft +. Grows best in frost-free, humid, tropical climates.
