Its bark is commonly used as a flavoring spice, similar to common cinnamon and is also the source of an essential oil. A medium sized evergreen tree, that can reach 25 m / 82 ft. Grows naturally in moist, tropical and subtropical zones, but also on the southern slopes of the Himalaya's. Possibly hardy to some frosts, to as low as 10-20 F.
