Pod fruit with acidic sweet pulp.
Description: Medium sized tree up to 60ft, but sometimes much smaller.
Hardiness: Trees will survive brief frosts
as well as temperatures well above 100F.
Growing Environment: Trees are very drought tolerant but also grow in areas of moderate
rainfall. Grow in almost any soil type.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Fruits are eaten raw, but commonly used in the preparation of beverages.
Native Range: Native from Southern Mexico through Colombia. Trees having naturalized in the Caribbean, Southern Florida, and tropical Asia. The tree is considered a weed in Hawaii.
