Golden Cassia
Cassia closiana
An evergreen shrub best-known for its amazing golden yellow blooms which brighten the bush in huge numbers for much of the Spring and Summer.
Description
Bushy tree to 6-10ft. Leaves contain many small leaflets common amongst legumes. The golden yellow flowers are born in large clusters and remain on the bush for several weeks. A slender, woody fruit that can grow to 3-4" follows, containing several hard seeds.
Hardiness
Probably hardy to 20-22F.
Growing Environment
Grow in full sun. Fairly drought hardy once established. Provide supplemental water when young.
Propagation
By seeds. They can be soaked for 24-48hrs prior to planting. Plant in well-drained soil, keep at 75-85F. Seeds generally take several weeks to germinate.
Uses
Planted as an ornamental. Makes a nice shrub for hot and dry regions.

Native to Chile.
