Medium sized tree up to 60ft, but sometimes much smaller.
Trees will survive brief frosts as well as temperatures well above 100F.
Trees are very drought tolerant but also grow in areas of moderate rainfall. Grow in almost any soil type.
Fruits are eaten raw, but commonly used in the preparation of beverages.
Native from Southern Mexico through Colombia. Trees having naturalized in the Caribbean, Southern Florida, and tropical Asia. The tree is considered a weed in Hawaii.
