Uses

Cassie perfume is extracted from the yellow flower blooms. This scent is popular with European parfumeries. Dyes can be obtained from both the bark and fruits. A gum can be extracted which is used in pottery and as gum arabic substitute. Some sources say the seeds can be used as poison.

Plant Cultivation

Description: Small tree to about 10-25ft, having prominent thorns. This species is very similar and sometimes classified as identical to Acacia caven. The flowers bloom heavily in season, sometimes several times a year.
Growing Environment: Tropical or subtropical. This species stands temperatures into the mid 20's (F). Little water is need when established and it can be grown in most soil types provided they are well-draining.
Hardiness: Hardy to the low teens (F).
Propagation: By seed.

Origin and Distribution
Native Range: Exact origin is unknown, but likely tropical America. The tree has naturalized or is grown in virtually all tropical and subtropical regions around the world.
