Small, weedy plant, with fern like leaves that almost instantly close upon touch. The leaves reopen within a few minutes.
Description: Small tropical, bushy or ground dwelling plant. Often found in roadsides or fields and in such cases, rarely exceed 3-6" in height.
Hardiness: Plants are tender
to frost, but can become weedy in tropical regions.
Growing Environment: They enjoy full
sun, warm temperatures, and moderate water. Easily container grown,
and commonly done so as an ornamental oddity.
Propagation: By seed.
Uses: Grown as an ornamental curiosity for its leaves which are an amazing example of rapid movement in plants. When touched, the leaves quickly close before ones eyes. They also close during nighttime.
Native Range: Native to Brazil.
