Showy, pink-flowered shrub also known for indigo dye, which is extracted from the leaves of this and several other species of the genus.
Description: Small, shrubby tree to 10-15ft. Main flowering period is during
spring, but plants often bloom off and on throughout the year. Leaves
are dark green, with a hint of blueish hue.
Hardiness: Tolerates mild frosts.
Growing Environment: Provide
average water, will stand mild droughts but does best if kept watered.
Grow in part shade or shade, full sun in cooler climates.

Propagation: By seed.
Uses: Usually grown for its ornamental value. It makes an attractive and shapely bush and its pink, pea-like flowers provide great color to the garden landscape.
