Orangeberry
Glycosmis pentaphylla
a.k.a. Gin Berry  

A relatively obscure member of the Citrus family bearing small, translucent pink fruits with juicy flesh and a sort of spicy, gin-like flavor.

Description: Small or medium sized evergreen. The flowers and fruit are born in large clusters. Trees may be in fruit on and off for much of the year in warm climates.

Hardiness: Unknown, hardy to at least 32F, possibly to 22-25F.



Growing Environment: Grows nicely in full sun. Water moderately. Would seem to enjoy conditions similar to Citrus.

Propagation: By seeds.

Uses: The fruits are edible and appreciated in some parts of the world. The tree is still quite uncommon but occasionally planted as an ornamental as well.

Native Range: Tropical Asia and Australia. Has gained popularity as an edible fruit in parts of the Carribean.
