Small, 1" around, grape-like fruit with brown/yellow skin and white pulp having a good acidic sweet flavor.
Description: Small tree, rarely above 20ft.
Hardiness: The tree is subtropical
or tropical and can usually survive brief temperature drops as low as
22-24F.
Growing Environment: Grow in full sun. Trees enjoy year-round water.
Propagation: Usually by seed. Seedling trees bear within 5-8
years. Wampee's can be grafted onto some citrus rootstock, but longterm
survivability is questionable.
Uses: Flesh is eaten fresh or used to make desserts. Fruit are particularly popular in parts of China.
Native Range: Native to Southern China and parts of Vietnam.
