Medium sized blood orange variety known to be one of the best for both flavor and color. This rich flavor is strongly orange-like, with hints of berry.
Description: Small to medium sized tree, usually to 10-25ft high. The Moro Blood Orange is known to be fairly reliable in coloring, ripening to a nice deep red in most growing areas.
Hardiness: Trees are somewhat sensitive to freezes and grow best in areas having only limited frosts and freezes.
Growing Environment: Grow like most citrus. Grow in full sun. Water regularly.
Propagation: Commonly by grafting cuttings to various citrus rootstocks. Can also be propagated by seed which usually develop characteristics fairly close to their parent.
Uses: These delicious fruits are eaten raw or used in juices and dessert. The juice is popular in Europe.
Native Range: A sport seedling, probably Spain or Italy.
