| Giant Iochroma | |
| Iochroma grandiflora | |
| a.k.a I. grandiflorum |

The largest flowering Iochroma and a sight to be seen when in bloom! The large blue-purple flowers are easily twice the size of most of the other common Iochroma's.
Description: A shrubby evergreen tree to 6-10ft. The flowers are born in large clusters of up to a dozen or more. Fleshy, green-white fruits follow and are inedible.
Hardiness: Hardy to 25-30F.

Growing Environment: Grows best in cooler, relatively frost-free climates. Doesn't do well in hot areas, with temperatures commonly in the 100's. Will not survive hard freezes. Seems to do well in container culture.
Propagation: By seeds, by rooted cuttings.
Uses: An amazing ornamental and usually planted as such. Great in containers and very nice in smaller spaces.
Native Range: South America.
