Wooly Jelly Palm Butea eriospatha a.k.a. Pindo Palm |
Uses |
| Used to make jellies and jams. Fruits seem to be very popular with small mammals. The jelly palm is also frequently grown as an ornamental for its silvery-green fronds. |
Plant Cultivation |
| Small, hardy palm, usually only to 10 or 20ft. The wooly jelly palm
is even hardier than the jelly palm, and can usually survive temperatures
to 0-5F. Grow in full sun. This species does expecially well in cooler
and foggier climates. Water fairly regularly, although it doesn't need
intense watering. Propagation: By seed, which can take a few weeks to several months to germinate. |
