Round or ovaloid, green fruit with a bright yellow pulp that is said to very appealing. Fruits can have an odd aftertaste. It is very popular in parts of South America.
Description: Medium sized tree from 25-50ft high. The lucuma is subtropical and
naturally grows at elevations of 9000-10000ft in Peru.
Hardiness: It sill tolerate
several degrees of frost and grows well in cooler climates.
Growing Environment: Grow in full sun. Will adapt
to dry locations.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Eaten fresh out of hand or used to make ice cream.
Native Range: Native to the Andes mountains of Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador.
