Satin Leaf Tree

Chrysophyllum oliviforme

Small, berry-sized fruit mildly resembling an olive. Skin is purple, with purple-white, sweetish flesh.

Description

A medium to large sized tree from 12-30ft. Flowering occurs from July to October, with fruits ripening in February.

Fruits are edible and eaten fresh, although the tree is usually grown as an ornamental, for is golden colored leaves. Wood is used for construction and furniture.

Native Range

Native to South Florida, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and a number of Caribbean islands.
