A rare Garcinia, best known for its huge leaves which grow to well over a foot long and may be the largest of the genus.
Very little information is available about this species. Along with its huge leaves, the tree is noteworthy for its green-yellow fruit, roughly round to a flattened pear shape. Flesh is white-yellow. There is no information about the eating quality of the fruit.
Seems to flourish in a humid, tropical environment.
This species is being studied for its chemical components, which may have future uses. It is extremely rare in cultivation.
Native to Malaysia, Borneo, and scattered locally in the southeast Asia region.
