Orange colored relative of the mangosteen with unusual sweet-sour flavored pulp. The fruits are smaller than the mangosteen and usually measure 1-2".
Description: Tropical tree from 25-40ft tall. The trees are very slow growing but
long-lived and can fruit when only a few feet tall. Button mangosteens
are excellent plants for container growth.
Hardiness: Not frost hardy.
Growing Environment: Needs a humid, warm environment. Water regularly.
Propagation: By seed. The seeds (as with many Garcinia species, can be very slow to germinate, and may take 2-6 months to germinate.
Uses: Fruits are eaten fresh.
Native Range: Native to Thailand.
