A strange and very rare sapote having knobby, almost ugly fruits that ripen green and brown. Pulp is orange-tan in color, with a mildly sweet flavor. Very uncommon in the wild, not cultivated, and listed as critically endangered.
Description: An evergreen tree that can reach 60 feet in height. Leaves are long, similar to more common sapotes such as Pouteria sapota. The fruits ripen from July to August in its native range. Fruits grow to about 2" across and contain 1-2 seeds.
