A medium quality Annona, often grown in dooryards in its native range. The skin tends to be very hard.
Description: Medium sized tree to 35ft. Fruits usually ripen towards late summer and early fall.
Hardiness: Exact hardiness unknown, but not frost hardy.
Growing Environment: Needs a very warm, wet climate to flower
and fruit.
Propagation: Native range from southern Mexico through Columbia and Venezuela.
Uses: Eaten raw or strained for juice. Extracts from the seeds are poisonous and can be used as an insecticide. Juice is sometimes used as a remedy for fevers. Inner bark is used to prepare teas, often to treat dysentery.
Native Range: Almost exclusively by seed.
