An uncommon natal plum relative and probably the only Carissa species lacking spines. Fruits are red, fleshy, and of unknown quality.
Description: A small shrub growing to 3-10 feet. Flowers are small, white, and form in large clusters. They are sweetly fragrant. Unlike other Carissa species, this species is thornless.
Hardiness: Unknown.
Growing Environment: Grows very well in full sun. Is likely somewhat drought tolerant.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Fruits are likely edible. The species is uncommon and information is very limited as to uses.
Native Range: Native to the eastern Cape region of Africa.
