A wild forest relative of the Chocolate Tree, having fairly large, brown skinned fruits with a hard skin. The delicate but sometimes elusive pulp is deliciously sweet.

Description: A medium sized tree that can grow to 40ft. Has large leaves that can grow to a foot long. Fruits mature from February to April in its native habitat.

Hardiness: Unknown. Not likely frost hardy.

Growing Environment: Unstudied, but the tree would appear to enjoy a wet, humid, tropical environment.

Propagation: By seeds.

Uses: A popular fruits in some market of the Amazon region. The pulp is highly valued for juices.

Native Range: Native to river and streambanks in the Amazon region of South America.
