Chocolate/cacao relative producing baseball sized fruits with a tart-sweet pulp.
Description: A small, tropical understory tree.
Hardiness: Will not survive any freezes or
frosts.
Growing Environment: Unstudied.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Usually only the pulp is used and is eaten raw. The beans are occasionally
used to produce a low quality chocolate.
Native Range: Native to rainforests from southern Central America to northern South America. Occasionally cultivated in Amazonia.
