Small, 1-1.5" long yellow fruit with juicy translucent acidic pulp of varying flavor and a large seed.
Description: A medium-large sized tree to 60ft.
Hardiness: The yellow mombin is fairly adaptable
to both dry and wet tropical zones but will not succeed in areas that
receive frost.
Propagation: By seed and cuttings.
Uses: Fruits are juicy so they are often eaten as thirst quenchers. Occasionally the yellow mombin is used to flavor drinks and ice creams.
Native Range: Native to throughout Central America and the Caribbean, from southern Mexico to Brazil. Has naturalized in some parts of Africa. It is rarely cultivated.
