Small, red-skinned strawberry with a tasty sweet flavor.
Description: Ground dwelling, spreading perennial, usually
growing no higher than a few inches. This strawberry will spread by
runners.
Hardiness: Hardy to at least 0F.
Growing Environment: Grows best in shade or part-shade. In cooler
areas, or near the ocean, it can tolerate direct sun. Water fairly regularly,
plants will go dormant during freezes. This strawberry also does well
in warmer areas.
Propagation: By seeds. The plant will also spread via runners
which can be divided as well.
Uses: Berries are edible and usually eaten fresh.
Native Range: Native to the Western United States, often mountainous and hilly areas of the Sierras and its foothills.
