Arid-climate bromeliad with a huge flower spike of sapphire-blue colored flowers.
Description: Arid-climate bromeliad, grows to 3-5ft, clumping habit. Leaves are long, with sharp teeth on their sides.
Hardiness: Hardy to about 20-25F.

Growing Environment: Needs minimal water. Grow in full sun or part shade, should stand temperatures to 100F.
Propagation: By seeds and divisions.

Uses: Planted as an ornamental or xeriscape plant for its amazing electric-blue flowers, a color unlike almost anything produced in the plant kingdom.
Native Range: Native to higher altitude regions of Chile.
