This species, like many Syzygium's, also has beautiful ornamental qualities, from its attractive fruits to powder-puff flowers. It is popular as a street tree. Its common name refers to the timber, which contains layers of bark, resembling a layered onion. Medium to large sized tree up to 90 ft / 30 m. Unknown frost tolerance. #4801
