Pingo-Pingo
Ephedra andina (Ephedra americana andina)

White fruited ephedra having a mild, sweet flavor.


Uses

The fruits can be eaten raw. The stems contain trace amounts of ephedrine and are sometime used medicinally. The stems are also edible.

Plant Cultivation

Description: Shrubby, ground-dwelling plant with needle-like leaves to 2-5ft.
Growing Environment: Will survive a wide temperature range and freezes. Will tolerate droughts.
Hardiness: Hardy to well below freezing.
Propagation: By seed.

Origin and Distribution
Native Range: Native to the Andes Mountains.
