This rare species naturally grows along hillsides and may be both frost (to a few degrees below freezing) and drought tolerant. Produces 2", dark chocolate brown fruits with mushy, brown-black pulp. Fruits are said to be edible, with a mild to sweet, pudding flavor. Shrubby tree to 25 ft / 7 m. Probably dioecious. #4561
