A stunning but small ornamental and very rare in cultivation. Has exotic, colorful white and pink-red flowers that can bloom most of the year. The flowers are followed by odd, green to red fruits that have a distinctive crown. An excellent plant to add an exotic twist to the tropical garden.
Description: A short tree growing to 6-10 feet. Has leathery, 3" leaves that if cut will release a white sap. The sap can be a skin irritant and is likely poisonous. The waxy flowers are quite showy and grow to 1-2". The species makes a good candidate for a container plant.
Hardiness: Likely not frost or freeze hardy.
Growing Environment: Grows well in filtered or full sun. Grow in well drained soil and water regularly. It is salt tolerant and somewhat drought tolerant.
Propagation: By seeds.
Uses: Rarely seen, but attractive as an ornamental specimen.
Native Range: Brazil.
